That’s… not really the issue here. Miami restaurant scene is geared at the top 1% + people who’ve been saving all year for one weekend in Miami. Tourism is down so they lost their clientele. This is just locals explaining why they don’t go to places they were never going to in the first place.

Eh. I live in Coral Gables. We still go out to eat and I see locals at restaurants. But yes, it's expensive. My wife and I can't go out for less than $115, even at local places. Lunch at SweetGreen is about $30 a day. So, between that and a desire to be healthier, I'm eating homemade food more often

I’ve been tracking grocery and restaurant prices (among others) in my area and while groceries have gone up about 7%, restaurant prices have only gone up about 2%. I’ve seen a ton of shrinkflation in terms of the sizes of restaurant dishes though… Thanks trump! #magatax #magaflation

Not just in Miami. Try rural WI, where a trip for two to a popular local Mexican restaurant was $48 (incl. tip) for sodas and two quesadillas. A sign on the door said to add 3% to menu prices, and they added another 3.7% at checkout because we didn’t pay cash. (The latter is becoming common.)

This was at a stand to order place. We won’t be going back out to eat anytime soon.

We went out to eat yesterday because one of our sons came home for a few days. His favorite place is Longhorn and wouldn't you know it, they changed their menu and only include one side for free, instead of two sides like they used to. Cheap fuckers. Another place to boycott.

It is very, very sad that the only way Trump may get pushback is because things start to cost too much. Not ICE Gestapo, not military in DC, not polishing Putin’s behind, not banning vaccines and destroying medical research. We may not deserve our democracy. There should be general strikes.
