I’ve been a Dem for 42 years, and I can’t stand Newsom. He’s a terrible governor. If, god forbid, he ends up with the Dem nomination for prez, you can expect another Republican victory.

One of the biggest pillars of the maga movement is “owning the libs” [maybe even the biggest]. Magas feed on liberal outrage. Newsom’s approach undercuts that nourishment, if you will, and that’s why it’s so effective. I, for one, say more please.

Oh they are for sure. At high levels. I took a 2 week break from socials so the algo reset. Coming back I felt like I was on Facebook 2020 it was so bad. And the bots MAGA + 🇷🇺 🇨🇳 🇰🇵 are deploying are better than what they used in tik tok during ‘24 election. The bot interaction has advanced.
This is anecdotal but I see some of my Maga fam losing their minds over it and clutching their pearls. It would be comical if it weren't so sad how completely hypocritical they are.
I just don't know how this translates into policy or an election strategy, I guess? It's sort of satisfying on a very base level, but it doesn't win us anything.

Ive seem plenty of folks say they've left the dems, but they can get behind Newsom and others who have this sort of fighting energy. Most folks I know have been screaming for this well before Biden left office.
