As TW's Matt Bennett said, "crime, politically, is an issue when voters feel that it is real, and the data is not really that relevant." It's crucial that Democrats aren't dismissing voters' valid concerns about crime.

Matt Bennett’s fear of black and brown people, doesn’t make his concerns valid

I’m concerned about crime, but not concerned about putting more cops on the street. I want more opportunities to be made available, access to mental health, access to healthcare, education, and good jobs. Crime doesn’t happen out of nowhere. We can’t arrest ourselves to safety.

So if the data shows crime is down, wouldn't that inherently mean that those voters' concerns about crime aren't actually valid? How can it be a valid concern if the data doesn't support it? Are all things that democrats fear and misunderstand among the list of "valid concerns"?

I’m a voter and I’m not concerned about crime. Fascists, sure. Climate change, yep. Getting run over while riding my bike, you bet. But, this generic, mythic, “crime”? No.
