There's a place named "Terrebonne" in Oregon? It's French for "good soil". Proper name, given the greenery. Nice little beast you've got there.

Good assumption, but the greenery you see is irrigated pasture set in the middle of sagebrush desert. Most of Terrebonne is grey/brown. But still a nice place to live.
Well, someone has a sense of humour to name the place "Terrebonne", then. 😂 Terrebonne (Québec, Canada) is fertile agricultural land.
Originally named Hillman (1910), a combination of Hill & Harriman, competitors to bring railroad to the area. When a local named Hillman ‘came under scrutiny’, a proposed name change to ‘Smith Rock’ for a notable geographic feature, was nixed in favor of ‘terre bonne’ which sounded more attractive.
French sounded more attractive? Okay, got to agree with that, even if it's not the right description for the land. There's still Smith Rock State Park, which is impressive.
