If he's an US citizen, he can't ask for asylum in Canada since US is still considered a safe country. He'd have to go through immigration process or wait until US goes full Gilead.

Full Gilead isn't far off.
Full Gilead's been going on for decades and began over a century ago. Pretty sure I heard Atwood say something like 'The Handmaid's Tale' was a reflection of reality. IMO the stage dressing and costumes (so to speak) in the novels made them seem like fiction. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_a...
Margaret Atwood made extensive research for "The Handmaid's Tale", which is a conglomerate of events & incidents documented in various countries spinned into 1 book. So, yes, a reflection of reality, but not USA specific.
The "consideration" of which they speak is evaporating on a daily basis.
USA's status may need to be revised, soon.
I mean, if you guys will take a guy in his late 40s who has 20+ years designing electric distribution for a major public utility.....but with a wife and two adult children and a menagerie of pets in tow. LOL. I think I have skills. I think. Just thinking out loud here, just in case.
Check out the Canada immigration page
I actually have been gathering documents over the course of the summer. The worse it gets, the more I open my mouth in some corners of life, the more problems I foresee, if that makes sense. I thought about the story of the balloon escape from East Germany in 1979, but hot air balloons unease me.
SCTA actually does state the US citizens are among the people exempt from the agreement. It's unlikely Canada would accept the asylum claim, but he can claim asylum.
He can claim, but it won't be accepted. Canada doesn't grant refugee status to every applicant.

Doesnβt really matter the process can take a couple of years, by then he will probably have a good case.
Full Gilead. Nice one.
Margaret Atwood would be proud. π
I suspect that Full Gilead is not that far away, in some states, anyway.
I think the same.
Won't be long.
