Somebody who claims to be on the left but would not vote for Kamala Harris in an election where her opponent is Donald Trump is not actually on the left in any meaningful way related to ideology or policy. That's just somebody using the label leftism to describe opposition to Democrats.

I agree 100%. You see a similar dynamic happening now. articles and dumb people are fixated on 2028 saying Gavin Newsom is the only acceptable Dem nominee which is an insane thing to say But then in response you've got tons of people saying they would never vote for Newsom under any circumstances

Yeah both takes are crazypants. Newsom is doing some good things right now with counter-gerrymandering and holding up a mirror to Trump, love to see it, I don't really prefer the guy as a future nominee but that's far away, and if he manages to win the primary I'd happily vote for him.
