I would contend that we are past the point of no return on authoritarianism. The courts and Congress have been captured by a tyrannical executive. There is no constitutionally sound remedy at the federal level But that isn't a reason to be hopeless. The USA of our childhood was a nation tacically
different than the one that emerged from under the tyranny of an overseas capitol. The interests that insisted on the freedom to profit from the slavery of others thrived and it took a civil war to settle the issue. Today there are many interests that oppose a free and progressive society. They
