it’s not like that isn’t also a hollow identity that only exists relative to that which it opposes

really it’s a type of false identity (can only exist relative to identities it defines itself against, a thing you can’t actually be and can only signal by being against other things) and not a true identity (exists in absolute terms, a thing you can actually be in and of itself)

(this is also the intrinsic problem with a white identity and why it fundamentally cannot exist without hate)

nazism appeals to this sort precisely because you don’t really have to be or believe in much of anything and it’s really only about what you’re against

since they’re kind of by default in a state of conflict with literally everything and everyone and themselves, the appeal of nazism is really just that it comes with perceived license to direct that angst against broad classes of acceptable target

yeah. some people are drawn to it because they earnestly believe in advancing the political interests of the white christian hegemonic family but a lot of them don't even care about that they just like to be told their hate is valid

you’re describing people like richard spencer, who can be uniquely insidious because they actually possess a level of conviction and ability to rationalize the hatred more deeply. they tend to be the leaders, a type of homunculi who do manage to find (fabricate) a jar (sense of self), more stable

yep. contrast the 'nazi thought leader' who has some level of true belief around white supremacy and patriarchy, versus the average alt right 4chan boy who is nodding along because it's an ideology that doesn't push him to grow in any meaningful way and lets him stay mad at folks who look different

while leftists and even some liberals are telling him he needs to outgrow the animus the nazis are reassuring him that it is not only fine but Correct to get activated when he has to share a room with a brown person or a trans girl

For me, one of the most effective examples of this is that One Nation, Australia's answer to parties like Reform (UK) or the RN (France), includes both explicitly anti-Indian white nationalists and Hindutva guys
