No one’s crying. We’re just not stupid enough to think flashing a goddamn white LED strobe like we’re high in a disco is doing something useful. But yeah, if you want to die on that hill, it might be cause someone had so many spots in their eyes from the last bike that they didn’t see you on yours.😆

The point of the lights is to be visible so motorists don't murder you with their car

But you won’t really know until you get there. It’s just that way. But seriously, if you removed all of the medical offices and hospitals from city limits? It would be like: oh wow. Wait. This is a core stimulus of cities? Strange reality. Ironic. And cities are full of shut-ins. Every block.

I used to feel the same way. I used to bike through Boston, NYC and Philly. Now I know what it is like to have a broken body and have to get in a damned car. I have 18 medical appts this month alone. Now I just feel like everyone is an entitled, coddled shit whether in bike, car or on foot.

And a slow pulsating red one can work whereas THESE white flashing ones can not only often blind drivers, they can be health hazards to all. They defeat the purpose. Ironically, many cities have meds&eds as their largest employer and hugely depend on the sick, elderly and disabled rolling on in🚗

I've not been able to find any evidence that it actually make cyclists safer. I have a horrible suspicion that the claim might have started out as advertising copy. The risks to people with photosensitive epilepsy, however, are well-documented.

I wanna live in your fantasy world where cyclists are part of this all-powerful cabal and motorists are persecuted
