We're keeping an eye on Iowa Senate District 1 special election on August 26th. Catelin Drey is an excellent candidate for the Democrats and has generated a lot of excitement. She could be the candidate to break the Republican supermajority.

Mike Zimmer won Senate District 35 in January in a special election by 25 percentage points. Republicans are vulnerable.

Any relation? Did that represent a blue shift from a prior result? I think the blue shift might be big enough to steamroll that gerrymander effort so that's where I'm really taking hope right now.

Mike is my husband, and the seat was Republican before the special election. Trump won the district by +21 in November, and Mike, a Democrat, won his seat by +4.

Hello and how are you. Can you offer any inside into who is best positioned to poach Joni Ernst's seat? I've been wondering if she would decline to run again and rumblings seem to indicate that may be happening.

Outstanding. Nothing warms the soul quite like D+25. Keep the faith and take care.

I haven't quite got around to committing to memory the list of Senate seats that could be in play for us, but off the top of my head- Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio, North Carolina, game over. Texas also, maybe.
