Not the literal worst but the most jokerfying outcome is something like Newsom winning in 2028 and keeping 70% of Trump's ruinous institutional dismantling going under the banner of "rediscovering our country's moral center of personal liberty" or some shit
I don’t think the Democrats will respond to a California politician losing by running another one, but I could be wrong. Also, does anyone actually like Newsom these days? It’s hard to imagine him beating someone like Shapiro in the primaries. Not that Shapiro is great, just an example.

Americans need to stop giving a pass to narcissists & sociopaths in politics just because they happen to be on 'their side'. Without knowing a single detail of an issue, I could be certain voters are getting played & any perceived benefit is far outweighed by the (often hidden until too late) cost.
