How do you see it that 78 (Markey’s age) is too old to be a Senator, but 82 (Biden’s current age) would not have been too old for him to be President right now?

Biden was too old to be president. But the other option was Trump and the end of the nation.

You’re right that race is a social construct, but saying it doesn’t affect us “at all” ignores reality. Social constructs can still have very real consequences. Race may not determine biological ability, but it shapes access to healthcare, education, housing, clean environments, and safety

all of which do affect health outcomes and life expectancy. For example, Black women in the U.S. face significantly higher maternal mortality rates…not because of biology, but because of systemic bias in healthcare.

So no, race isn’t biologically real in the way age or height is. But racism is real — and it has measurable, devastating effects on people’s lives just as age biases!

No need to even wonder about whether I agree or disagree on those points. Yes, they are both biases. Yes, rhey both have 14th amendment application. But NO, they are not the same thing, legally, nor are the legal standards for liability the same for both. Age is scientific. Race is made up.
