Doggust Day 16: Pomeranian. Part of the reason I like to do daily challenges is because it forces me not to overthink. Except when I do. Here's an example of me just repainting the whole thing at 8pm. #doggust #doggust2025

A small white fluffy dog, with their paws on the window sill of an arched stone window, in a stone wall. The window is framed with foliage, and dark leaves in the foreground. Their house in the background is filled with furniture, a pot of soup on the stove, a curtain, ladder, stool, and painting of a pomegranate. In this painting, it's night. The exterior is cool greens, and blue greys. The interior is bright yellow and orange. The same painting but in different colors. It's daytime now, the exterior wall is yellow with dappled light on it. The interior is a dark magenta and red.

I adore your painting style, how do you do this?

Thank you! It's acrylic gouache, one half in square brush, and one 0 size round brush. And a lot of practice. Gouache is pretty fun and forgiving though.

Really like the contrast in both, but my brain thought this was Undertale/Deltarune related at first OTL

It's funny, all pomeranians turn things into undertale and ghost trick fanart. Iconic!

Ooh these are fascinating to see side by side. The yellow one has a lovely contrast between the cool/neutrals and the interior lighting. I also love the rim lighting of the doggy. I notice some greens coming through on the brick. Was the base color that same yellow?

Thanks so much! The bricks were just painted with a mix of ash green and grey, but that area was more watery, so the lighter color came out a bit more green when I was messing with the saturation afterwards.

The magenta version is unexpected but I love looking closely at it. Something about the magenta and warm sunny lighting contrasting the greens of the leaves captures my eye. This is also super specific but I love the color of the branch on the upper left. It’s vivid!

While both are great, I prefer the yellow interior. I love the way the glow from the inside backlights the little dog. I'm happy that he has such a warm and cozy home. Now I'm curious as to which you painted first.

Thank you! And I agree, the yellow interior is the one I painted second. Warm yellow light is definitely my comfort zone haha. The daytime scene was a push to try something new, and use pinks which are my least used color.

Interesting! Ofttimes my second attempts are worse than the first. It's good to know that second guessing can result in an improved outcome.

That’s really interesting. I like the pink a lot but the nighttime one is stronger for me too. They’re both really great!
