As someone w/ extensive experience in mental health, he presents as someone w/ bipolar disorder That would explain why his treatment plan included constant blood tests (likely due to being prescribed lithium), why his demeanor pivots between mania, & many bipolar patients hate taking their meds too

Strokes, particularly in the frontal lobe, can present much in this way. Personality changes, labile emotions, etc. They can also cause electrolyte imbalances that would require frequent blood work, or if he was on a blood thinner he’d need routine blood work as well. We shouldn’t armchair diagnose
