There was a time last year where I was convinced that I was getting dumber. I was CONCERNED. But I’ve realized that is not the case. It’s just difficult to process the constant onslaught of human and civil rights abuses and still retain the ability to respond. We’re not dumb, we’re traumatized.

Our collective anxiety inc: poor eating habits; failure to sleep; strained relationships from federal government imploding & representatives voting against constituents.

This is so spot on! Having recently escaped a long term abusive intimate relationship, I'm still processing that, much less this other chaos, so most days feel extremely triggering. I have found that using several grounding techniques throughout the day keep me from totally spiraling - most days 🫩

It’s a deliberate strategy. As well as confusing and diluting any opposition, it confuses and dilutes the media coverage and response. It’s designed to overwhelm. The advice I have read is, pick a couple of key issues and FOCUS.

I wonder when it stopped to be "unhappy people buy more" and turned out to be "traumatized people are more docile".

I realized this a few weeks ago. My brain literally had to pause and reflect on it for a few moments. This is not normal and my brain can’t handle it. It’s a bad state of affairs when that is a real thing. We are not meant to be barraged by all the bad.

It's hard, because we don't want to suddenly realize we're in 1940 Germany and wish we'd done more, but you have to take breaks. My wife, dog, and I stayed in a cabin on a mountain lake for a week with no cell phone reception, and it was the best. We have to keep immersing ourselves in beauty.

Yes. So very important. It is about this, too, beyond just surviving all of what exists out there.

Beloved, please make no mistake - while this may not apply to you specifically, a sizeable portion of the (voting) public truly is intellectually lazy and stupid. Let's also be clear that (1) it will only get worse, given the education trajectory in the States, and (2) that's very much by design.

We are still dealing with the traumatic events of the oppression & suppression by former southern confederates grandchildren and children. They trying their best to hang-on to their heritage or their great great grandparents pride from the civil war.

No matter how well any given day may go for you, no matter what beauty or good you may find in it, or how many happy moments you may experience, there is also a constant, insidious, gnawing sense of dread eating at you, grinding you down to a nub. Your mind can never quite fully find peace.

Thats the point. They want us numb, they want us overwhelmed, they want us QUIET. DON'T LET THEM WIN. It's normal to feel fatigued, as am I. But find the strength in staying informed, cutting through the noise, and supporting your communities. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. THERE ARE MORE OF US THAN THEM.
