I really need to disconnect from online FFXIV discourse- I'm a casual player now, I don't log in super often but every time I do I have a great time, I have so much content to catch up on but I've been busy with other games. Just. Any time I see any "discussion" on the game nowadays it's miserable
I saw a post a while back that was sth like Playing fighting games ✨🌈☀️ Fighting game discussion ⛈️🤬💢 But then Playing FFXIV (as a casual) ✨🌈☀️ FFXIV discussion ⛈️🤬💢 It sucks that the grifters have jumped on this game so hard
FFXIV is never gonna hit the 10/10 MSQ peak of ShB into EnW again and I've pretty much accepted that, I'm completely fine with enjoying an 7~8/10 even if I have my issues with the writing and lack of risk-taking. And like, the actual content has been non stop bangers so im doing good
(Not saying I wouldn't love to be proven wrong, I'm just saying it's very hard to escalate to that degree a second time and im personally fine with that being the case. I'm having fun and I don't need to engage in the discourse. That's all)
I feel like everytime someone discuss Wuk Lamat with no nuance or actual thinking it devolves into transphobia real fast.
tbh I feel like if they want to hit that peak again they need to commit to what they were doing at the beginning of this expansion and give us a break from every world ending threat imaginable hard to feel the impact of the story when it's just one apocalypse after the other
that said I have liked this expac, it hasn't been bad imo
That’s what I have to do sometimes, ignore the stuff going around and just remind myself that I don’t show my love for a game by hating it
Yeah everyone is in too much of a doom spiral, it's like they've never played an as the children say "mid" expansion before.
Twitter and the official forums are the worst about this, since it's where all the worst people tend to congregate at The DT discourse has been outright absurd, especially since everything from the presentations hinted that this was gonna be a low-key expansion anyway as a cool down arc
I haven't played DT yet, and I think for my own sanity, I'm going to postpone until the next expansion is underway. I can catch up on all the DT content and since the community will have hopefully moved on, not deal with the miserable discourse.
Yeah the constant just hating on the game makes me not want to play at all. Even though I'm enjoying the current content, I don't want to listen to all the people shouting about how much they dislike it all the time...
