The only reason why TGL has done as "well" as it has is because it's on ESPN. It hasn't had to rely on streaming or networks like CW. As a credentialed member of golf media, that's non-partisan, I've tried numerous times to give TGL a shot. It's a horrible product.
If LIV were good then someone other than the CW would've paid up. Nobody else wanted them. ESPN wanted the TGL because it saw something that could draw ratings, and they appear to be right.
I'm no fanboy of either or the PGA TOUR, for that matter. But seeing that Fox Sports picked them up now, we'll see what happens. Of course, they saw something. Why not take a flier on something that has the liked of TW, Rory, and Fenway Sports? To be honest, it's all going to be moot soon enough.
