For months now we have been hearing Democratic pundits say, "Democrats need to meet voters where they are." Tonight, New York City voters seem to be telling them pretty clearly.

Yeah when they say that they just mean don’t make bigots feel bad.
Last time they chose Adams though…..
Why wasn't the media talking about Adrienne Adams constantly? I would have voted for her if I still lived in NYC.
Local news covered her nightly...that's how I learned about her
Honestly watching senior dems behavior I'm convinced we are screwed. I need a tasty death or a way out of this country.
That was supposed to say Hasty but... that works too 😆
I keep eating Stewart’s Death by Chocolate ice cream but it’s not working (tasty death 😜
What's the entirely non-violent version of socking Chuck Todd in his big useless dumb face?
This will hopefully set the stage for 2026. The Democratic establishment needs to take a seat. The new school is in session.
A candidate in NYC meeting NYC voters where they are has absolutely nothing to do with the Democratic party figuring out how to win national elections. See, Koch. See, Bloomberg. See histrionic praise of de Blasio after winning. See... Eric Adams. (sigh)
They are not figuring it out - we are showing them! Enough is enough!
And the NY Status Quo Machine is losing its marbles.
👏
I’m sure the Democratic Pundit Industrial Complex will do a lot of self-reflection and reassess their positions.
It'd be nice if the US general election voters were more aligned with NY City democrats. But I don't think that they are.
After 3-4 more wars they might be!
Perhaps. But hasn't historically been the case. I think the key is that young people become the most likely to vote and/or run for office rather than the least likely.
I don't think they've been given the chance. They seemed to like Obama just fine in 2008.
My hunch is there’s demand for fresh, young faces who can bring the fight (but their politics will run the gamet from moderate to progressive, depending on district.)
Yes, the lessons from Mamdani are about his approach and not necessarily his ideology: Be authentic; don’t chase approval from media nobody reads/watches anymore; go to where the voters are and ask for their votes directly; generate attention; and have a laser focus on affordability.
These could also be applied to, say, Dan Osborn in Nebraska
I hope so! I'd love to cast some votes for some smart and energetic young folk.
