For Congress to check the President requires the majority to be willing to do so. As for enforcement of court orders, that depends on the independence of the Justice Department, which was but a norm that has been easily broken.

I am.french, so our way of life are very different. I did that long ago. I actually never really used them. I always supported local businesses, 2nd hand, hand made, ecological products as muche as I could. But industrials have transformed the core of the USA. so that no one has any choice anymore.
We have more choices than most people realize. The alternatives to Amazon, Walmart, etc are a bit less convenient and a little more expensive but people are sick of how they're being exploited so the movement toward buying small and local is quickly getting big enough for big business to notice.
I spent 6 months in Virginia Tech in 2014. I remember how strange it was to me to have to take a car to get groceries, and do anything. How ugly those malls were. How uncomfortable that was to have to eat food thar was obviously unhealthy. But I found à Farmers market, and organic bulk food stores.
I had no problem dumping Amazon. Only Google though is a tough nut to crack. But I'll get there.

Don't spend money with ANY American business, with the possible exception of small, independently owned ones as long as they aren't maga. We have to make ALL the big corporations and shareholders feel some pain if we're going to make a meaningful impact.

I am in France. I get my international info from the BBC. French news are not what they used to be. The BBC either, but they are still more efficient, and as an english speaking média, they cover à broader spectrum pf international news.

As other commenters are saying, in the U.S. we risk losing our health insurance if we take time off from work to protest. And even if time off is approved, political speech outside the workplace isn't protected from employer reprisal, not in the private sector anyway.

Yes for other *single* issues. The geography of America is unimaginably vast to most Europeans I have talked to. It takes weeks to congregate a crowd you might find impressive and it has been less than one month since Trump took office. Plus he’s made flying less safe than ever.
