Morale: they’re in rural fuckin Afghanistan. Let them have a dog. Operational: the dogs patrol with the humans, can tell the difference between Americans and afghans, and fuckin LOVE Americans because we’re all animal crazy goofballs. They know when something’s off and warn the humans
