If it's Cuomo, there's then the question of whether WFP will cross-endorse (unlikely?) or endorse their own candidate (perhaps one of the progressive Democratic candidates who didn't win the primary), creating a potential 4-way general (with the Mayor and the GOP nom). And there's no RCV in the GE.

WFP has endorsed Mamdani and have said they wouldn't put Cuomo on their ballot line

The craziest election indeed would be Adams vs Cuomo vs Mamdani vs Sliwa.

In which case it's conceivable that the three shitty conservative candidates would split the vote to a point where Mamdani could win it - albeit with an incredibly weak mandate - with like 35 or 40%.

If Zohran is the Democratic nominee and both Cuomo and Adams run as independents, then I think Mamdani will win. But it's extremely difficult to imagine Zohran winning if Cuomo is the Dem nominee. Many people will just vote for the Dem nominee in the general no matter what.

I hate to admit it but your right. That is the frustating problem. We are closing the gap as much as we and but this is such a frustrating hurdle on how cuomo just receives support and doesnt do anything.

WFP gets <5% in mayoral elections here (they didn't endorse Adams in '21, so it's actually a pretty small sample size), so it would be an extremely uphill climb for any WFP candidate. And I misspoke earlier WFP has endorsed 4 candidates, in there anyone but Cuomo push.

Things going for Zohran seem to be 1. Momentum, and 2. Has enough money for now. Will be interesting if he can tighten the primary over the last month and see what he has left

I think WFP would love for Zohran to run as their candidate in the general election. But I am not sure Zohran would want to. Better to be remembered for getting 45% in the primary (after RCV) than for getting 10% in the general election, right?

Think that's the logical politician thing to do. He'll be 37 in four years and Cuomo may have burned bridges running for prez or doing whatever in the interim. Otoh, not a lot of other options in the near term for ambitious dudes (he won't challenge AOC or Velasquez for Congress and Senate is 2028)
