Hec Ramsey: All right, but never grabbed me. McCloud: Based on Coogan's Bluff (Eastwood). Some good episodes. Banacek: Only 16 episodes (2 years). I think it started becoming predictable. Mac & Sally: Yeah. Take Sally away - end of show. COLUMBO: Ongoing because of Falk. Direct audience connection.
I remember all of these, but my wife & I still watch Columbo. We almost chatted with with Peter Falk at Pageant of the Masters, but she welled up and was too embarrassed to speak; he just smiled and nodded at us. Also, Jesse Davenport, the P.I. of my novel, wears a raincoat as an homage to him.
Cool Million?
This was a staple at our house in the 1970's. Our entire family would come to the living room and share the experience. We weren't on our own devices playing our own games or texting other people. It was Columbo, Mac and Sally, and my family. I'm so glad we had this opportunity to be together.
Only one of them was the best detective series every made, and will be remembered in another fifty years, Colombo
