There was a second round of negotiations. Much more "productive"

How counterintuitive it may seem today, they probably saved millions of Japanese lives and also hundreds of thousands of US lives if the US would had to invade the Japanese mainland. The Japanese would had fought to the last bullet and man making the invasion of nazi Germany seem like a cakewalk.

The Japanese were starving. All of their money was going to the war efforts. My old boss told me that his family had nothing to eat but grass. They welcomed the US military. Because as usual they brought food

That show how absolutely ruthless the regime and military was. They would had continued to fight a meaningless fight until the bitter end and not care one bit about the suffering and mass deaths of civilians.

From what I heard in Japan, they were thankful that we ended the war. An elderly man on the street had me sign an autograph book, and gave me two little paper dolls that he has made. He had old scars all over his head.

Yet another reason to pay attention if you have opportunities to make change. We are so fortunate yet so aggrieved. Likely won’t work out well for us.

The Japanese were, when you look at the history, on the verge of surrender -- albeit deeply divided on it. The anti-surrender faction fought their case to the bitter end even after the bombs.

Not saying that the bombs made no difference, they certainly did, but they likely didn't stop a full-blooded invasion -- it wouldn't have gone that far.
