Right? As a nurse, she should know that applying greasy substances to sunburn (or any burn) is counterproductive. It traps heat and makes burns worse.

I’m not a nurse, but I am a caregiver, trained in first aid, and I know this.
Every time I watch a movie about "the old days" and they tell someone to put butter or grease on a burn, I just cringe.
My sociopathic mother once left me outside in the sun in a pool float while she sat in the shade under an umbrella with her friend for hours. I was four, and fried. Bitch coated me in butter. You don’t forget what that feels like.
I am so sorry! I cringed when you said you got out at age 14. Were you somewhere safe?
I have lots of stories from when I was a kid. Many parents ignored their kids in the 60s.
I went to my grandparents, my mother signed away her parental rights, and there were no consequences for her actions.
I would have loved to move in with my grandparents.
That's horrible. 😢
Sadly, I endured way worse from her until I got out at 14.
So sorry. Glad you got away. ❤️
