So true. Sometimes it is hard to help them. They don't want it. Often it is not recognized even by those close to them. It is, "oh, that is just how they are" and no help is sought.

Locally there seems to be an epidemic of abuse at juvie and adult mental/behavioral establishments. Also many times patients are medicated to please their care takers and while they are more manageable, they do not feel better.
100% true. Happens in nursing homes, too-- medicate so they don't bother anyone. As for juvenilles, at what point do we as a society recognize that most of these individuals, with proper treatment, can live a functioning and contributing life?
