Fascism is here. Unless we have a candidate who will actually do what needs to be done to END fascism the "lesser evil" calculation is out the window. What Newsom represents is pausing the outward cruelty of fascism without materially improving the lives of its victims. That's not good enough.
The outward cruelty of fascism and the abject stupidity of MAGA will cause this country to collapse. As discomforting as it may be to accept, that collapse is preferable to making Democrats the custodians of a state that will just be cruelly and stupidly fascist again in a few years.
