If everyone continues to order salisbury steak, it's likely that they will never feel the need to put real steak on the menu.

There is nothing fun about that. I wanted to endorse a very slightly more progressive candidate than the chosen one, and they said if I did, I should "quietly leave" the party.
The moral high ground (Which is indeed the Democrat party) only works if you put your money where your mouth is.
The DNC can't be defended. They've been off track since 1992. But there is bad and there is worse. And we can't make the bad better until 1) we persuade primary voters the status quo is broken or 2) we force our way into seats of power within the DNC. But not voting in the general is suicide.
There are gonna be at least 12 candidates on the ballot in Nov 2028. Abdicate your own agency all you want, but this false binary is why we're here. Miss me with this "voting as harm reduction" myth as you lecture the people who will be most impacted. "I hate the system I'm upholding" is wild.
I DO hate the system I'm upholding. I'm pretty sure they did, actually, kick me out for asking them to reread the platform. Yes, other fella- I hear you. It's all terrible and terrifying.
I'm really trying to make a Cracker Barrel is to the DNC :. Trump is to My brain is super not working today but there's a great analogy in there. Mamdami is in there... Sander's is in there; arrogant fucking Pied-piper queen is in there... "Help! We're dying over here!!!"
One day, a liberal will actually answer the question, "Why do you hate the democracy you're trying to uphold," but I don't think today will be that day.
My answer: Apart from a violent revolution, this system (which has been fucked since the 1980s) remains. It isn't going parliamentary any time soon. Two parties. All we have and will have. History has proven that out. So our best shot is to fight like hell to sway the DNC and Dem voters our way.
We are *literally* living under a "violent revolution" right now. This country was founded on violent revolution. I'm not sure you understand the sources of the anger against Newsom. I think you're old enough to understand that no Democratic President has ever been "pushed left" by the citizenry.
Blah blah citizens united AIPAC...
This is literally the way it is *supposed to work.
Again, abdicate your own agency to this false duopoly all you like. Just know that by doing so, you're validating the very thing you claim to stand against, and putting your own priorities over that of others.
I don't have any priorities but getting rid of MAGA. Nothing else matters. It is an existential threat to every minority. America is not a false duopoly. It is a duopoly. You can only change that with a Constitutional Convention. And good luck there, because the GOP would hold 34+% of the votes.
I understand the anger. I'm in a wheelchair. If a candidate wanted to repeal the Americans with Disabilities Act, I would be incredulous. But party does matter. As I just pointed out to someone else, LBJ was pushed left by his party/voters. It can be done.
Pushed left? No. But forced left on certain issues despite themselves? Yes.
The binary choice isn't going anywhere. It's here to stay.
Man who goes out of his way to uphold a false binary: the false binary is here to stay. We get it, your desire to be on the "winning team" is more important than your duty to every citizen. I just wish you frauds would admit it.
Nope. Just playing the odds to get the liberal policies I want.
Vote however you want. Personally, I find people who preemptively announce their dedication to party over people to be unredeemable. Humans aren't binary, and I'm here debating someone who should know better about civil rights. I will never vote for Newsom. Y'all have three years to do better.
I assume we will do better than Newsom. But if it's him or MAGA? Damn straight I'll vote for him. Why? I'll answer that with a question: If a Dem candidate was anti-black (like the GOP) but pro-trans and pro-climate (unlike the GOP), would you vote for them?
Sorry, last point. Every time a liberal makes their own version of the Trolley Problem, y'all notice how it's never a choice that impacts them directly? Here's your Trolley Problem in return. Would you vote for a Dem candidate who pledged to strip citizenship status from every disabled American?
I'm in a wheelchair. So, I'll make this personal to me. If a Dem candidate was anti-disability rights (like the GOP) but pro-trans and pro-black and pro-climate, would I vote for them? 100% yes!
