5) Dems need to get better at telling stories that appeal to people on an emotional level. We tend to recite numbers, which just turns people off. The GOP understands the power of narratives and has built a propaganda machine to spread them.

6) Humans are designed to respond to stories. We’re starting to see some movement in this direction from Mamdani and Pritzker in particular. These efforts need to be encouraged. END

The GOP gets that no one who isn't a dentist gets what Edward Bernays and Don Draper did, which is that no one actually cares about toothpaste. But if you associate your brand of it with what people actually care about (wealth, status, power, childhood nostalgia) paired with flashy images, it sells

The way I put it, Dems are stuck in the 50s era of advertising when a toothpaste commercial would be 5 minutes long and have a panel of dentists telling you about how much better X toothpaste is than Y and Z for your teeth
