I would have liked for them to wear on their lapels combined flags of their respective states with the Ukrainian colours. But please no dress-up that looks like a masquerade - I shudder to think of the ridiculous spectacle of Friedrich Merz in combat gear...

Combined flags lapel pins is a good idea, but trump's campaign against democracy is in large part a visual, theatrical war. It's language that would humiliate him and his base by not caving to his idiotic demands. It's the language he understands being as hollow as he is.

I agree that images and symbols matter. But the heads of state are not only there as supporters for Zelenskyy, they also represent their states and as such, they have to look as professional as possible. And in their case, that means the usual attire for heads of state. It is like their armor.

Everything else would be interpreted by Trump as a sign of weakness and would be picked apart by the mainstream media. The story should not be what leaders are wearing, but the future of the Ukraine. BTW if decorum was not essential, I would like them all to wear upside down US flags...
