I cringe when “Christians” are lumped into this mess. It’s like telling a Southern Baptist that Catholics are Christian too. 🤯 Our society has lost the concept of Christianity, and has devolved into Christian factions.
The definition of being a christian has changed. It used to be about following the teachings of the bible and walking in Jesus's footsteps. Now, thanks to talibangelicals, it's about just "believing Jesus is the lord and savior" because if you believe, he will forgive your sins, no matter what.
Watch eyes glaze over when one explains that Baptists really come out of the Puritan traditions of the 17th century. Anabaptists were more pacifists - such as Mennonites and Amish. Then I mention that I’m a Trustee for a historic Meetinghouse, whose congregation dates back to 1616 in London. 😳
