Here's the thing. I never claimed this to be factually accurate. Thought it was funny af so why not share in the laughter. There is no need for ppl to take it so deep.

⚠️ Why It’s Misleading: • Putin looking down: He’s likely just listening or pausing • Obama leaning in: That posture can indicate emphasis, but isn’t dominance or intimidation. • The meme uses loaded language and selective framing to push a political narrative rather than show an objective truth.
That’s your personal opinion visualized as a fake photoshopped image. Nice try!
In reality it's truth visualized by artistic rendering. Nice try though!
I hate Trump too but it's really ironic to be glazing Obama on a post talking about immigrants in cages...
When will the but Obama! But Bill! Bullshit end???
When people stop bringing up Obama as a "Trump bad Obama good!" Angle. It doesn't af anything to this. There was no reason to bring him up here. The post isn't even related to what's being said in the picture
This was a post about inhumane treatment of immigrants, and someone posted a "look how great Obama is against putin" meme It adds nothing, just there to glaze Obama. Why? He's not president, nor is he running
Obama hasn't been in office since 2017. We are in a crisis NOW.
That's my fucking point. Why are people bringing up Obama now?
I pointed out that it's funny. You immediately went to defending Obama. I didn't say "Obama should be saving us! Help us Obama!" I pointed out the irony
Oh. Yes, I do that sometimes. Ima blame trump for having me on edge for eight years.
I get it, it's a stressful time and there's a lot going on. I just wish people would look AHEAD to getting past this and actually making things better, instead of going "God remember the good ol days? Remember X president? We need them right now"
Oh fuck off. At least Obama didn't demand it!
I was wondering how long it would take until "here's how it's not bad when it's us doing it" Criticism of your own side is good actually. The answer to maga isn't "let's deify our own person"
You SHOULD demand better. You shouldn't settle. Vote against Republicans, but don't become complacent when you do.
This IS me demanding better.
You don't even know me! I was Republican up until 2016. I stand by what I said. Obama isn't president, Obama didn't order Alligator Alcatraz. Quit deflecting and deal with the bs going on today.
Democrats vs Republicans is just right wing infighting. The whole system is rotten and needs to be dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up asap.
OBAMA BUILT THE FUCKING CONCENTRATION CAMPS AND PUT TOM HOMAN IN CHARGE OF ICE! STFU YOU HUMAN BRAIN CRAMP!
So you think what's happening now came out of nowhere? The Dems played a huge role in normalizing this kind of cruelty and anti-immigrant alarmism, because the polls told them it was popular. The last is how we get to the present.
I will give you a dollar for every documented quote from a Dem that is "anti-immigrant alarmism" if you give me one for every documented quote from a Republican, deal?
You misunderstand. The GOP lies about immigration to shape public opinion. The Dems see that public opinion is turning anti-immigrant, and so they follow where the GOP led them, and put up a draconian border bill: www.commondreams.org/news/biparti...
That confirms to the public that the GOP was RIGHT, since even the Dems are doing this, which makes the GOP look like the principled ones, to people who barely follow this shit at all. some of them are STARTING to get serious about fighting the GOP, but the centrists seem more scared of Mamdani.
Does DACA mean anything to you? Obama tried to even promote Deferred Action for the Parents of American Citizens. Just spare us the standard “‘Both Sides’ suck” narrative. Democrats are being politically punished for Biden’s perceived lassitude on immigration enforcement.
Democrats are being punished for being popularisr instead of populist. the GOP has worked for decades to shape public opinion, while the Democrats have been FOLLOWING it, and trying to please everybody. Which means they're being led by the GOP.
Not trying to be snarky—I don’t know what that 1st sentence meant.
Sorry if this covers stuff you know already "Populist" is someone who appeals to broad public motivations. Right wing populists tend to appeal to a demographic majority, and encourage biases and bigotries, because a divided public is easier for authoritarians to mislead, and rule. 1/2
Left populists tend to do stuff like universal healthcare and social housing. "Popularist" is someone who tries to follow what they think is popular, largely without regard to what's right. Does that make it clearer? Sorry for the confusion! 2/2
I should probably say that these are the definitions that I'm currently using, I can't promise there aren't different ones out there
And that perception is bullshit. But the Dems don't respond by saying "oh, they're liars who will use that line no matter what", they say "we need to be tougher, to appease them". They should have been fighting back against the lies, instead of validating them by getting tougher on the border.
Maybe you didn’t live through 9-11. I did. Border security as distinguished from hostility towards immigrants are 2 different concerns in my mind.
That's a perfect example of what I'm talking about - the Dems went along with the war on terror, and insisted on "moving on" from the Bush admin's crimes. That's a HUGE part of how we got here.
I sure as fuck did. I had people screaming in my face that I was a terrorist for opposing the invasion of Iraq while.mostnofnthe Democratic Party supported it.
The lone no vote on the Patriot Act came from Barbara Lee, a Democrat. You seem to blame Democrats for reflecting the will of their constituents, while leaving Republicans unscathed for lying to their constituents on a huge array of issues & policies. I don’t find that strategy effective.
I'm blaming the Democrats for trying to be too much like Republicans. How does that leave Republicans "unscathed"? We all agree here that they're bad, I'M talking about how to actually beat them, rather than giving speeches praising past Republicans.
I detest when Democrats do that, especially about Reagan; but you haven’t clarified how 2+ yrs of Biden openly & notoriously letting 100s - 1000s/day of “walk thru the border” asylum seekers & extending Temporary Protected Status to Haitians & others constitutes Dems trying to adopt GOP policies.
Then I talk about "Democrats", I'm talking about the party as a unit, and it's leadership. Just like I wouldn't give the GOP credit for Ron Paul voting against a war or something.
*the past
Barack Obama deported 11 million people in his first term as president, but yeah cool pic I guess
Please cite a source because that's faaaar from the number I got when I Googled it a few hours ago.
docs.house.gov/meetings/GO/... this took me like 2 minutes of googling
It says 1.8 million! Lmao!
It says 11 million.
Quick correction; it does say 1.8 million, however there's this article which cites the number @ over 3 million www.yahoo.com/news/fact-ch... so I'd argue the number is far higher
As I said, I Googled this earlier. If you think 3 million is close to 11 million..
I'd wager it's actually @ 11 million because again, Obama was very good at killing civilians and hiding those numbers too.
With that said, 3 million is an outrageous number. The fact the majority of them never got to even see a judge is an outrage. Considering how goc Obama was at covering up how many civilians were killed by drone strikes he ordered I have just cause to presume the real numbers are much higher.
You sound insane.
Under Obama, CBP was ordered to change the definition of corruption in order to downplay the myriad abuses of the department www.politico.com/magazine/sto... Not saying this to say they're the same, but we need to hold our own accountable and demand candidates who won't stand for this
Obama isn't that great humanitarian hero he made himself out to be. That's fine. He's not our king. We're not supposed to be Trumpists who are loyal to one man over the good of our country. We can admit we can do better, and then do better next time.
I think this is more about the roll Dems played in normalizing GOP hatred
What, you think it all happened by accident or something? Or what?
Remind me who put Tom Homan in charge of his entire shtick again?
Except that Obama ignored the Budapest Memorandum and pretended to be busy taking the kids to softball practice when Russia gobbled up Crimea and most of Donetsk and Luhansk.
Lets be honest- Crimea is not just on Obama alone. The whole G7 did nothing. Nuclear weapons have made world leaders hesitant to be aggressive- and for good reason. However, someone like Putin, a sliver of the pie will never be enough. The world has seen that confirmed with the Ukrainian invasion.
That is why the G7 are stepping up and banding together to form a new coalition. As well, all have these countries have increased defense spending. Sad that this is what we have to do in a millenium filled with technological progress and opportunity… build more bombs.😢
You forget the political environment of the time. The GOP would have tried to impeach him while much of the population would have hated him for getting involved in another war.
..many looked away and let Russia have their way. But indeed, besides Russia, the USA and UK signed the deal to look after Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan (for giving away their nukes)!! No excuses there. We failed Ukraine big time
It was not a brilliant achievement of Obama in 2014 to describe Russia as a regional power to Putin, the Russian president. Perhaps Obama thought it was funny, but it was a slap in the face to the national pride of a nuclear power in the world's largest country by area. Humiliation never pays!
