🥰 I ❤️ these pedestals you made!

Thank you :)

I love when the sunlight hits my pots when I’m set up at art fairs. It really makes them shine! #pottery #ceramics
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Loving my new base crystalline recipe. It grows nice crystals and doesn’t drip too much (though it does drip a little!) #pottery #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com) reply parent
Thanks so much! 😊😊
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
I’m loving teapot and teacup sets lately. I always say I need to make more teapots and when I do I’m always happy I did! #pottery #ceramics #teapot
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com) reply parent
Yes I did! And thank you :)

I’m going to do a shop update in October or November, but before then they will only be available at art fairs.
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Teacup and saucer. I made three matching saucers in this batch of teacups and they look so cute! #pottery #teacup #ceramics
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Finally put this cream glaze into production. I’m loving the shape of the gold crystals! #pottery #ceramics #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
This is a rare glaze combo- usually I only use one glaze. I love how my liner glaze interacts with the opal glaze to create that bright blue! #pottery #ceramics
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Just unloaded the kiln and could not resist posting one of my fresh pots. My new crystalline formula is not disappointing! #pottery #teacup #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
I scaled up the turquoise crystalline test and got much better results! It’s amazing how much 0.1 alumina by UMF affects crystal growth (plus some other minor differences). This was a 3hr hold. I’ll continue experimenting to get big crystals without the glaze running off the pot #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
I got a pretty good test of the white/gold crystalline glaze! I’m figuring out how thick it likes to be - not too thick and not too thin, otherwise it has no crystals or way too many. It’s no joke that crystalline glazes are super picky about everything! Keeping me on my toes! #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Going to scale these tests up! I finally got a gold titanium crystalline to work (left). The one on the right has less alumina than my usual recipe and still isn’t running, but has bigger crystals. This was only a 2hr hold. #pottery #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
I’m working on crystalline glaze formulas, trying to strike a balance between crystal growth and it not running. This one has 0.3 alumina by UMF, which is almost as high as you can go. I think it is a bit too stiff, as I didn’t get very big crystals even with a 3hr hold #crystallineGlaze #pottery

I’m excited to get back into the studio and work on some new vases after a trip camping in the White Mountains #pottery #ceramics #vase

I think I need to make more jars! They are so fun #pottery #ceramics #jar
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com) reply parent
Yes!! Thank you, they are fun to experiment with.
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com) reply parent
Thank you! It interacts nicely with my liner glaze.
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Working on some improvements to my crystalline glaze. I think I’ll take this one to production! Fired to 2220F and held at 1940F for 1 hr. #pottery #ceramics #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com) reply parent
Yes, it is. I actually just published it on Glazy glazy.org/recipes/647695
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com) reply parent
Yes! It’s definitely reminiscent of lace
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
I scaled up my matte glaze test! Excited to glaze more pieces in it now that I know it looks good on this tea/cappuccino cup #pottery #ceramics
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
New glaze tests! Barium makes such lovely colors. I’m going to make a couple more tests with a similar base, using manganese and iron as colorants. #pottery #glaze

Tried a new design, not sure how I feel about it yet. #pottery #ceramics
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
I modified the colorants by 1% and I think this is going to become my favorite glaze. It was too peachy before; now it has lovely blue and bronze shades!

Variation on a theme, with some banding in the middle #pottery #ceramics
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Finally figuring this glaze out. I thinned it out quite a bit and am getting much better crystals now #pottery #ceramics #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Pushed the peak temp a bit hotter and the crystalline hold a bit longer this time. Trying to find the sweet spot - it’s getting there! #pottery #ceramics #crystallineGlaze #crystallinePottery
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
I’ve been enjoying making pour over sets this year! #pottery #ceramics #pourOver

Scaled up my crystalline glaze! I think next time I’ll hold the crystalline dwell a little longer to get bigger crystals #pottery #ceramics #crystallineGlaze #crystallinePottery
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Glad my second batch of tests went much better than the first! Going to scale up the glaze on the middle test tile #pottery #ceramics #crystallineGlaze
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com) reply parent
I hope you’re right!
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
Trying to get some last work through and get my glazes into production before my first art fair of the year in two weeks. I can get it all done, right? Right???! 😅🙈 #pottery #ceramics
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com)
It was a successful first bisque firing in my new kiln! Now onto glaze tests.

It’s a separate glaze! It has manganese and different copper and titanium levels! It’s more purple than purple haze 😆 I’m not sure if the bucket is out yet 🤔

Thank you! They are so pretty and vibrant when they come out nicely. Hopefully you can find somewhere that has copper reds!

Hmm I guess it loses a little volume during the drying process but not too much 🤔 the slip has to be at the right thickness- too thin and it runs/doesn’t have volume, too thick and it won’t flow enough. Yup, I’m using a 1oz bulb from Xiem tools.
Savanah Conrad (@potsbysav.com) reply parent
Yup! And the vertical lines are carved.
