“Hand on my stupid heart”

Meditations in an emergency Cameron Awkward-Rich I wake up & it breaks my heart. I draw the blinds & the thrill of rain breaks my heart. I go outside. I ride the train, walk among the buildings, men in Monday suits. The flight of doves, the city of tents beneath the underpass, the huddled mass, old women hawking roses, & children all of them, break my heart. There’s a dream I have in which I love the world. I run from end to end like fingers through her hair. There are no borders, only wind. Like you, I was born. Like you, I was raised in the institution of dreaming. Hand on my heart. Hand on my stupid heart.

Marina Tabassum’s summer pavilion at the Serpentine with its references to Bangladeshi wedding pavilions and a welcome pause to drink coffee and chat about space and congregation with my partner. #Saturday

The pavilion is a series of arched panels letting the light in with sections open to the weather. A ginkgo tree is placed at the centre. people can be seen sitting at the edges and also standing and buying coffee at the far end of the structure. It is a cloudy day and the sky is visible in the open sections

Kudus in Camden - another remarkable feat by puppeteers in the @theherds.bsky.social company. And a sighting of a pangolin in the wild too. #TheHerds #PublicArt #ClimateEmergency 🌎

A sustainably made cardboard covered Kudu puppet worked by a team of puppeteers dressed in black appears in front of The Buck’s Head pub on Camden High Street. It is a sweltering hot summer’s afternoon. A crowd has gathered to watch. Two Kudu puppets face off on the high street with the Buck’s Head pub on the left and the BoxPark centre on the right. A crowd has gathered to watch in strong afternoon heat and sunshine. Many are taking photos. A cardboard pangolin puppet is draped over a man’s shoulder - its tail hanging down past his tattooed arm.

Quite an evening at our Central London teaching space hearing Lord Simon Woolley speak with passion & integrity about his activist history with Operation Black Vote, inspiring us all to (re)focus on what matters at this time. Followed by brilliant q & a led by our own graduate Dr Renee Landell.

Lord Simon Woolley speaks at a lecture podium with the Royal Holloway University of London logo on it and behind him a banner declaring For What Matters Dr Renee Landell and Lord Simon Woolley in conversation sat in front of banners saying For What Matters and depicting Royal Holloway University’s Founders Building

“shouldn’t we be learning things like how the wind blows, which way is up and how to tie our shoelaces and what is love?” An incoming year of the snake 🐍 felt like the perfect time to reacquaint myself with Lanmo and A L Kennedy’s gorgeous modern fable. 📖❤️🐍

Just the loveliest London day - amazing theatre from Plexus Polaire adapting Moby Dick 🐋into powerful visuals, puppetry and performance 🎭 at the Barbican and then a light show at Battersea to chase the winter dark away followed by a year of the snake 🐍 supper. Heavenly.

I loved Pure but it was actually a reference to this novel by Samantha Harvey that led me back to his writing again. The later chapters have truly taken my breath away. Look forward to hearing your response in due course.
