I’ve been in Copenhagen <24 hrs & already feel such positive human energy, joy, happiness. I’ve never seen so many bicycles or a city designed to center this way of life. It’s INCREDIBLE! Came upon this “CHP By Bike” photo contest- read the description! (In my city, my favorite route, my way home🚲🫶🏼)

You know, I’ve never thought of it quite like that and I think it’s brilliant and you should write about it?!! I’ve been sporty (and gay) all my life but didn’t know it growing up or come out until my 30’s; now I’m thinking that is WHY I remember sports so vividly, i was free to be fully ME!
I am the perfect opposite of a sports person but I got a free ticket to a women’s soccer game today and while I was there, surrounded by many of my fellow lesbians and lots of eager young girls, I was really able to grasp why the right wants to control and discriminate within women’s sports so badly
Because it was an empowering community? Women athletes are so team-oriented. Basketball was my life in high school. I learned how to lead, cooperate, be humble from playing on teams. I remember zero academics (though I was the valedictorian lol) but still recall specific games, shots (and I’m old!)
Ok, well, I’m tapping out, but I hope everyone finds peace, genuinely
While I’m grateful #LAUSD is implementing plans to keep K-12 students/families safe in a district that is 75% Latino/a/x, it is absolutely gutting that the biggest school district in CA (and so many others) need to protect their students FROM THEIR OWN U.S. GOVT!!! Who have we become?! #AbolishICE

As a prof who prepares science teachers I have this ethical dilemma knowing: 1) We need the best/brightest to center justice/inclusion and transform school science, and 2) They’ll enter an always undervalued workforce that our govt continually makes choices to underfund so small men can feel manlier
Also thinking about the impact of white male supremacy/white women’s complicity on education. Pre Brown v. Board, Black schools were stellar academically, Black (often women) teachers were highly valued/educated, many had doctorates. bell hooks writes about the gutting transition - all was lost

As a parent (and human) I cannot fathom holding my starving teenager in my house so he doesn’t get shot at a food distribution site and only to have them “escape” to get food and then getting their hands/foot blown off, because he’s starving to death…..my god, we have lost all sense of humanity
