There are absolutely SOPs and TTPs for what the guard can and can't do on us soil. This isn't the first time they have been used and it won't be the last.
They are too busy firing leadership to be hand picking shit. And even if you do hand pick . Promotions take time. Placement in military chain of command takes time and has ceremony and pagentry attached to it.
... The person currently serving is out of touch with members who are serving? It takes time to change institutional culture. And the NG has had Kent State hanging over it forever. It is still spoken about and discussed as a case study in basic training.

Depends on how quickly the ICE agents they are supposed to be security for burns through whatever professional courtesy they are afforded. In my experience ICE agents run through that real fukn quick.
There are a number of rights that I had as a civilian that I partially gave up or severely restricted when I joined a service. That's not agency but that is avenues that are now closed to me. That calculus changes when given an illegal order. To my knowledge they haven't been given that order.
As others have stated. Are you sure they are NG and not another federal agency cosplaying as NG? Because they aren't allowed to arrest or do traffic stops. They can detain. They can provide security for people who can perform law enforcement. If you see them policing, record and report.
They cannot enforce civilian law. Supposedly they can detain people until civilian cops can show up. They gave up a fair amount of agency when they joined for the promise of college. Healthcare. Job training. No one is going to dishonorably discharge because they have to stand in DC.
I didn't state unequivocally that there won't be shooting. But that would be a serious escalation from where we are now and will absolutely lead to resignations and all manner of chaos. Right now they are going to stand around in DC in August and hate life.
