For example, I'll be laying in bed, either drifting off or waking up, and I'll 'hear' something in my head. It sounds like an electric type of buzzing, or like the creaking of fluid flowing through a constricted path. It's sudden, surprising, and gives me a jolt, but is otherwise harmless.
So I recently found out I had 'exploding head syndrome' and no that's not a joke, it's a real thing. Apparently, when you're shutting down at night, there are neurons in your brain that start doing things to get you ready for sleep. Exploding Head Syndrome has to do with auditory hallucinations.
