My assumption is that the current moves within the TV space are being made because of the FCC, but not for the reasons I see anyone mentioning. TV becomes further enshittified and people move from that to online independent digital media. That's great, but FCC rules will not apply on YouTube.
I mention this since I still at least see like 3 or 5 seconds of an ad and the algorithm is REALLY ridiculous. It's obvious that they are all pro-MAGA and I'm thankful I don't have to work to ignore it
If you watch YouTube on a stream device, have above average computer skills, and have something in your closet to run a simple homelab (like a pi or just some old computer), look up SponsorBlock if premium gets too expensive. Doesn't block ads, just shortens them and skips automatically.

I figured out what the problem with MAGA voters is after listening to a few debates: they will only stay within their echo chambers for information, and they also believe that empathy is weaponized. Limited ecosystem + limited trust in those outside of the tribe = a major problem for society
