There a couple of other problems with the original graphic. The 450 numberā¦where does that come from? The other is that animal emotions shouldnāt be anthropomorphized. I could easily ascribe āangerā to a male dog that growls &bares its teeth to another male dog trying to mount it. Is that also hate?
What Iām saying is we need to use language accurately. The way the word āhomophobiaā is being used is to attribute hate to people who may not necessarily agree with homosexuality as an act, but do not hate homosexuals as people.
My original comment was on the term āhomophobiaā & its misuse as being synonymous with hate. Phobias by definition are fears. Thereās nothing wrong with being afraid of something, even if that fear is misplaced, so long as the fear isnāt acted on irresponsibly.

It appears that homophobia is being used as a blanket term, has been politicized, and is being used,unfortunately, as a shaming tactic.
A person could hate, be repulsed by, or be indifferent to something and not fear it. Conversely you could love something but still fear it. Homophobia, as a term, is a very inaccurate way of defining peoples reaction to it.
I donāt recall saying I hate anyone or any group. All I was pointing out is that a āphobiaā refers to a fear of something. Hating something doesnāt necessarily mean you fear it.
