Basically, I removed the original facing on the front half of the collar, cut a lower scoop and sewed in a new facing made from scrap chambray fabric. I left the back of the neck as-is because I didn't want to futz around with changing the button closure.

the disturbing thing about these homeschooling influencers is that a lot of them *are* putting their kids to work making social media content
there's really very little precedent for just, like, not sending your kid to school, unless you were so poor you needed to immediately put them to work
