As someone who was born in the city, moved to the south burbs, then back to the city & traveled reasonably widely throughout for work & fun, it's worth checking out the rest of the region. Take a Sat/Sun, enjoy a drive/train, see some breweries, a record store, do some thrifting, whatever!
