It was a peaceful, but energized "No Kings" turnout in my smaller Indiana community. Much larger than the May 1st one. It was great that the drive-by traffic was so supportive too .

Hoosier here too and in a very red district. So good that you went to yours even in a smaller town. Mine was at least 3x to 4x bigger than May 1. It was so good to see so many show up. Traffic drive-by was even much more supportive .

But if a few people in masks start lighting stuff on fire? Then you have news. This creates an *enormous* attentional advantage towards the most violent and chaotic kind of protest.
There's a real attentional trap that all protest movements face and have faced for a long time. If you pull off protests that are polite and civil, even if large, they will struggle to get coverage. Reporters will dismiss them as not newsworthy.
