Nearly 500k union employees observed Labor Day with fewer workplace protections than last year because of Trump. From cancelling collective bargaining agreements to gutting NLRB, his assault on workers' rights has been all-encompassing. Every union member must take note: Trump is coming for you.
My office is in touch with NYPD regarding this incident that occurred in the LES. As our community grapples with this latest act of gun violence, we must focus on getting these weapons off our streets. Once caught, I urge the City to prosecute the gunman to the fullest extent of the law.

I invited New York State Homes & Community Renewal, NYC HPD, and NYCHA to speak to residents about the current threats facing Section 8 and 9 residents. Programs like Section 8 and 9 remain absolutely essential to so many New Yorkers who could not live in their neighborhoods without them.
To restore trust, we must pass legislation that bans stock trading by all federal officials. Yet Trump is lobbying to vote down a ban on stock trading because… it would apply to him. Once again, he’s is legislating based on his own interest. His corruption is a cancer on our government.
The Senate just unanimously passed the bipartisan bill I introduced with Rep. Andy Barr to ensure families of fallen law enforcement officers aren’t denied benefits because of arbitrary retirement rules. Now the House must act. I urge Republican leadership to bring it to a vote in September.

ICE has refused to allow me to conduct congressional oversight of the 10th floor at 26 Fed despite reports of inhumane conditions. Despite ICE’s blanket denials, we now have video of the inside — confirming the reports of terrible conditions. Now we know why they are denying our access.
Multiple crashes at Canal St and Bowery near the Manhattan Bridge have made this intersection deadly. Two pedestrians' lives were tragically lost on Saturday, and another crash occurred Sunday. NYC DOT must act now to make this intersection safer before anyone else is injured.

My heart breaks for the families of the two pedestrians killed in a hit-and-run accident crossing 3rd Avenue in Sunset Park today. Their deaths are tragic and entirely preventable. The 3rd Avenue corridor is unsafe by any measure, and our city must address it to keep us safe.

The Big Ugly Bill gives Trump $170B for mass deportations—a budget larger than most militaries. It gives masked ICE agents $40K bonuses for rounding up immigrants who are here legally. We must hold this administration accountable.
Trump is detaining over 100 immigrants in Brooklyn’s MDC—an understaffed and overcrowded federal prison notorious for violence and abuse. The Federal Bureau of Prisons must immediately suspend these transfers and disclose how facility safety has been affected by additional detainees.
To tackle the gun violence crisis, we need to understand how guns are illegally trafficked and get into the wrong hands. That’s why I jointly introduced the ATF Data Act with @schiff.senate.gov, requiring law enforcement to publish data on gun seizures and trafficking-related arrests nationwide.

ICE has been detaining lawful immigrants in horrific conditions for weeks, which is why they're blocking oversight. 100+ people crammed into overcapacity holding cells without beds, showers, or enough food. I shared the horrific stories that former detainees told me about what they experienced.
The Trump Admin is using immigration enforcement to create a military state. Today, I told two stories of detainees kept in horrible conditions in my district. ICE refuses to let me see what is happening to these people. We will not stop until we find out what is behind those closed doors.
