I think we're about to see some stabilizing of it, to some degree, now that the House settlement is in place. You'll have guys moving up from FCS/G5 schools to P4 schools (and down the opposite way), but less P4->P4.

True, but as the gap grows between B1G/SEC and everyone else (with more top talent goint to B1G/SEC), the talent gap between top B1G/bottom B1G should potentially narrow, to the point where coaching/luck/smart play starts to be rewarded again.
I still think we're too early to make that call. NU is still a B1G school with equal revenue....that gives them a leg up on a lot of other teams that are would-be competitors.

You could even make a case McCarthy had a worse game, given the pick-6. The Bears lost because of penalties, because they don't have a kicker capable of hitting from much more than 40 (cost them 2 FGs), problems stopping the run, and some bad O-line play.
It's interesting to me that both Caleb Williams (1st/2nd) and JJ McCarthy (4th quarter) showed flashes of great play along with plenty of bad play (i.e. incomplete/inconsistent games)....yet JJ is getting praised and Caleb is getting dragged. Vikings won. That's the only difference.
