Very sad to hear of the death of Johnathan Main, of Bookseller Crow fame, in Crystal Palace. A lovely man. Deepest sympathies to his loved ones, and his many friends.

Hassan Blasim is always worth reading. Three stories here, each very different. Elias In The Land Of ISIS is simultaneously warm and chilling. The third, Bulbul, includes discussion of fusha (Modern Standard Arabic) versus (Iraqi) ammiya in literature. Bulbul is written in ammiya.
