West Virginia is so beautiful. It's a shame that generational poverty has destroyed the quality of life for so many. Lack of education is also a component of that poverty and so it's a deeply red state - when people vote at all. It's difficult for struggling people to consider voting and politics.

There is definitely a different culture. I had a couple of pen friends back in the day and signing a letter or card "Love, (my name)" was considered unusual unless it was actually romantic love. And then I learned how the food differed. Everything seemed brownish w/lots of fiber and fruit.

That's very understandable. Where I was, arcade games were EVERYWHERE. Arcades were everywhere, too. And in the early '80s, it seemed like kids did little else. Everyone had played those games. It wasn't until about 1983 that the '80s changed into a music decade. At least in the USA.
