A little over 100 years ago Warren Harding died...a couple of weeks after visiting Alaska. If we get this lucky again, you Lower 48 bitches can never charge us extra shipping again.
I've only read Yellowface and while I appreciated the message it conveyed, that pancake scene traumatized me. This sounds like it could have a vaguely similar scene. 🤷♀️
My favorite is when people mispronounce my last name and then argue with me that I'm pronouncing it incorrectly. In related news, the soft c sound exists. Not all c sounds are hard.

There was a hand drawn map, too. Spoiler alert: his Major went down behind enemy lines but managed to get back to his own camp. He went on to have a storied career in the Air Force & this crash is mentioned in his AF bio. My grandfather apparently never told my dad/his kids about this incident.
A few weeks ago I fell into a rabbit hole on the National Archive website and unearthed this missing pilot report my grandfather made re: his Major who went down during a Normandy mission. He was literally my oldest son's age, flying a P47 and straffing Nazis. Now look where we are today. 😐

My husband has worked the past three days moving his classroom for next year. This 46 yr old seaweed album he unearthed is now living rent-free in my head. It's so dam cool. TDIL that seaweed pressing was all the rage ~100 years before this album was made.

I was born in ANC and my parents lived on W. 15th Ave where I spent my first six years of life ice skating in the dark, canoeing to the island, feeding the ducks, and watching hot air balloons inflate on the shores of the "bagoon" (I couldn't pronounce "lagoon," lol.
ASU used this at my kid's graduation last spring. I was fully prepared for our name to be butchered. I told him my shock that it wasn't and he explained he submitted a phonetic pronunciation guide to this system. Kinda took the magic out of having it said correctly the first time. 🤷♀️

I cargoed my cat from NJ to AK w/them years ago an had the same crate issue w/my bigger boy cat. AK Air was super helpful though. I feel like they had a special pet flying dept I spoke to to answer all my questions. Aside from stressing out about the takeoff temperature, it went smooth.
I have a friend whose kid flew down to WA w/her dog in cargo w/AK Air. The hardest part was finding a crate that fit the specs. My friend's grandpup had pointy ears that brushed the top of the og crate they got him. They had to get a bigger one. If he had floppy ears he would have been fine. 😆

Hub and I went to the Caring for the Kenai awards banquet tonite. A rep for Dunleavy read his congratulatory statement with the preamble the Gov was too busy to attend. Hub and I both look at each other and mutter "Busy vetoing money for your education..."
My daughter has an assignment in her LA class to write each day for 42 days about a piece of fruit. The teacher emailed to say some kids were burning out w/the assignment. He must not have read the entries she wrote parodying his awful descriptions on FB marketplace of things he's trying to sell.
