We started this training indoors, working on concepts such as “watch me” and “leave it” in the house, with no distractions. As he began to do well consistently indoors, we began to move the training outside. We started with no distractions and then worked up to doing it with distractions.

We have been working on concept training with Olaf over the past 6 weeks or so. His progress has been remarkable! He is no longer barking and lunging when he sees other dogs on a walk, and now he calmly looks up at us for a treat. His calmness and confidence keep growing! #Dogs #DogsofBluesky

He really is a very cute little dog! People always stop us when we’re out on walks, asking about him and wanting to pet him.
I decided to take a quick afternoon backyard break with Olaf. I brought out a soft mat so that he could relax comfortably on the deck. But as you can see, Olaf decided he’d rather relax next to the mat, on the wood 😂 #Dogs #DogsofBluesky

I always enjoy encountering dogs at the airport. On our last flight back in January, there were two dogs on our plane, including a small schnauzer that sat right in front of us.

It didn’t seem relaxing at all!
Olaf often pays attention to people on TV, and will even follow their eyes. We were once watching a show where the people were looking at something off screen, and Olaf got up and walked to the side of the TV at which they were looking, to see if he could see what they were looking at 😀
It may work for many dogs, but we definitely got a different result than anticipated from Olaf!
At the very least, we know what channel to tune into if we want to rile him up 😂
My wife found a channel on YouTube that presents videos that are supposed to help dogs to feel calm and relaxed. Here is a video she took of Olaf “relaxing” to that channel 🤣🤣🤣 #Dogs #DogsofBluesky

It was pretty funny! This was the first time he had wanted to bring a toy out with him.
We bought Olaf a new “Frozen TV Dinner” toy, which was delivered by Chewy today. He loved it so much that he decided he wanted to bring one of the pieces out on his walk! This is him carrying his “grilled chicken drumstick” in his mouth 😂 #Dogs #DogsofBluesky
I still can’t believe that he was a puppy mill dog before the rescue agency got him. He’s just taken to living with us so quickly, and he just doesn’t exhibit any of the typical puppy mill dog behaviors.

Olaf’s transformation into a total lapdog is now complete. If my wife is in the room with us, he’ll typically hang out between the two of us. But if my wife leaves the room or isn’t with us, he immediately crawls into my lap. He’s such a cute and lovable little dog 🥰 #Dogs #DogsofBluesky

As I post this, we are in the midst of a severe thunderstorm. Olaf is fast asleep on the couch and isn’t bothered by this at all! He was also great with the fireworks over the Fourth of July weekend. I am just so happy that none of this scares him! #Dogs #DogsofBluesky

Yesterday marked the 3 month anniversary of Olaf’s adoption! He is a lovable, playful, curious and super smart little dog. And he’s also super cute! We are so happy to have found him, and we’re so lucky to have him as part of our family! #Dogs #DogsofBluesky
We aren’t sure, as he was a rescue. The rescue agency said he is a Maltese, but we think he is some sort of Maltese mix. Possibly a Morkie, or Maltipoo or Maltichon.
I really don’t mind when he curls up on me, and I’m very happy that he feels comfortable enough with me to do so!
