29.08.1980. DVA / PTI / De Tian at The Leadmill, Sheffield. DVA played 2 sets. The main one being: North Loop, Uncertain, Sensorium, 4 Hours and Piano Pain. An earlier first set was a semi-improvised piece called 'The Clock DVA Theme', also known (briefly) as 'The Psychedelic Angler'.

What I love most about Bill is that he retired. Made some timeless music, wrote some indelible songs and then stopped. No comeback album, no insipid duets with idiots half his age, no final farewell tour. Put up a massive innings, declared and went back to the pavilion unbeaten.

My recent history with Wes Anderson. The French Dispatch, really didn’t enjoy it at all. Asteroid City, not seen, scared off by how disappointing The French Dispatch was. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. Wonderful indeed. I enjoyed The Phoenician Scheme, almost as much as the cake and coffee.

Hiya, not quite true. It was a long enough day in the rehearsal room off West Street when we recorded it, but 15 hours would be something off an exaggeration. From memory, we set up in the morning, recorded from around midday and I was in the Bay Horse pub in Pitsmoor by 9pm.

Really enjoyed the Evie Hone and Mainie Jellett exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland. Two remarkable Dublin women artists born within three years of each other near the end of the 19th century. Bold, forward looking work from the 1920s onwards. Well worth a look.
