When the Murdoch succession plan is explained as Rupert being more concerned about ensuring the ongoing profitability of his media business due to its conservative bias, than about fairness or family harmony, why would they merit any recognition as credible news.

Painted Buttonquail!!! I'd never seen one of these tiny (20cm) birds until today, and it was *IN MY BACKYARD!* Fun fact: Buttonquails aren't quails, and aren't even galliformes. They're more closely related to shorebirds like plovers and curlews.

Photograph of a small ovoid bird scratch through leaf-litter on a shaded forest floor (it's actually a corner of my backyard that we call The Jungle). The bird is intricately patterned in white, grey, orange, black, and brown, with red eyes.

Satin Bowerbird (mature male) eating Pittosporum fruit. #birds

Photograph of a medium-sized passerine bird in a leafy green tree with orange fruit. Some of the fruit are split, showing juicy red seeds. The bowerbird is black with a blue/purple satin sheen, creamy-white beak, and bright purple eyes. It has its head turned to hold a fruit above it while it licks the contents out.

We live in a quiet neighbourhood. Have a street library, nice lawns, etc. so the rare time I have to get up early tomorrow one of my neighbours is having a rowdy party. Just a bit of shouting and music so far but ffs, you could have had it last night...
