I hate AI, but I think we should think more critically about blanket-condemning anything that could be ai. Big genAI, which steals copyrighted works, poisons our collective knowledge, and consumes unconscionable amounts of energy is BAD. On-device ai that lets me search my photos for dogs is FINE.

I love Lies of P! But yes, very different vibe, and way less weird. More straightforward and earnest than the inscrutable and alluring weirdness of FS games, but I grew to be quite fond of the characters.

What Kody said! Because Japanese vowel sounds transfer quite cleanly and consistently into English, "Kay-ori" is simply wrong, haha. Chinese-to-English is MUCH much messier due to it being a tonal language with two primary dialects (which are not mutually intelligible), & several translation systems
Yeah! I get why the instinct for that is there, and it might even make sense situationally, but also it can feel very awkward to totally break the cadence of the language you're currently speaking in.

A second reason why "How would you like me to say your name?" is the better question is that language and translation are inconsistent! Kamala Harris is different than Kamala Khan. How many different ways can you say Koch? Some Wangs are Wangs and some Wangs are WAHngs. Prioritize the individual ๐
I'd vastly prefer you use the first pronunciation, despite it being "inauthentic." It's the name I grew up with. It feels like mine. The fact that it's a Chinese name said in an English way feels like part of my identity not just as a man of Chinese decent, but distinctly as an Asian-American...
We'll use my last name for example. If we're speaking English, I prefer it to be said like "can" but with the "ch" start. This is not how you say it in Cantonese. (It sounds more like Chun) But unless we're actually speaking Canto and you can say it with the proper tone (it's a tonal language)...

Do you have a second pen to try? The first thing I'd try in diagnosing the problem is to see if it's the pen.
One might assume that it's just new artists that never learned this, but I assure you many experienced pros also do not do this properly because someone down the production line has always fixed it for them. Don't be that guy! If your editor doesn't send you a template, ask for one!
